When and How to File for Homestead in Florida

Florida’s homestead exemption can reduce the taxable value of your permanent residence and caps future assessed-value increases on that home under Save Our Homes. You must own and live in the home as your permanent residence on January 1, and file with your county property appraiser by March 1 of that tax year. Volusia and Brevard County homeowners can use the links below; most counties accept online filing.
